From the team who brought you the sell-out Roaring 20s, get ready for a night of fabulous Frenchy chic cabaret!

Join singer-actor Melissa Western and her suave backing band on a night of extravagance transforming Studio 188 into a back alley Montparnasse salon with velvety jazz, passionate vocals and cheeky banter. A night of classy cabaret will wind around some of the best French music icons including Edith Piaf and Jacques Prévert, pay tribute to jazz stars who made Paris their home like Eartha Kitt and Nina Simone, and of course features a nod to Josephine Baker – the world’s most iconic showgirl. Expect oscillating French and English lyrics, a tongue-in-cheek irreverence for continental authenticity lots of feathers and an onstage sip, or seventeen, of French bubbles!

A self-confessed Francophile, Melissa has sung iconic French songs for nearly two decades. Her enthusiasm was sparked by an unexpected, underdog win at a French speaking competition in Grade 8 and the flame was fanned by regular visits to an Aunt who has lived in Paris for over 40 years. She headlined the Chalk Hotel’s Montmartre 1920s Paris New Years Eve Ball and has also recorded the theme song for film documentary Paris: une capitale traverse le temps, produced in Paris by filmmaker Gerard Civet. Other French-language performances include Bastille Day at QPAC, the Brisbane Jazz Club, and Le Classique. She has performed in Avaux, France and is always delighted to revisit the romance and mystique of Paris and Piaf in performance.
