View From Madeleine’s Couch

Celebrating almost two decades of making beautiful Brazilian music together, Madcouch presents an evening of songs which featured in three sold-out seasons of their Anywhere Festival hit, The Bossa Nova Sunset Club.  From the rhythmic origins of samba, to the romance of classic bossa novas, the band takes you on an intimate and engaging musical journey through Brazil.

Heartfelt vocals, traditional Brazilian percussion and the gorgeous notes of the vibraphone all give the band its signature sound which has, for 19 years, made them unique in Australia’s world and jazz music scenes. There is no other band in the country that sounds like this.

Led by Anje West on vocals (in Portuguese) and percussion, and Kym Ambrose on vibes, with the impeccable groove of Owen Newcomb on bass, Lachlan Hawkins on drums and Bruce Woodward on guitar.
