Youth Physical Performance & Character Workshop – Accessing character through movement is half day workshop for young artists and emerging performers, presented by Minola Theatre for the Protege Masterclass series.

The way you hold and move your body has a huge impact on things like mood, emotional state and confidence. It also impacts how those around you perceive you. Exploring movement is a transformative tool for shaping characters and relationships on stage. Why do some people move slowly, and others quickly? Why do some people stomp their feet, and others tiptoe? Why do we emphasise different body parts when we walk? How do things like this affect the playing of a character?

Bianca and Kat will help you identify the ways you naturally move, and how changing some of these choices can help unlock different kinds of characters you didn’t know you had inside you. This is a half day workshop for young artists and emerging performers, presented by Minola Theatre for the Protege Masterclass series.

Young artists will:
➜ learn more about their own natural ways of moving
➜ be introduced to the concept of leading centres
➜ be introduced to Laban movement styles
➜ explore alternative ways of moving
➜ connect character choices to qualities of movement

Workshop attendance comes with a complimentary ticket to Minola Theatre’s Begotten, playing at Studio 188 on Saturday 22 May. *Please note: the Begotten performance contains some language and mature themes and is suitable for ages 15 and up. Workshop is suitable for all ages.â
