Joel Aspinall is a Brisbane Saxophonist currently in his 4th year of study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. During his time at the Con, he has studied many of Australia’s premier saxophonists including James Sandon, Zac Hurren, Julien Wilson and Dale Barlow. He has also been a member of numerous groups within the university including the Con Big Band, Con Fusion, John Hoffman Ensemble and is currently a member of the Conservatorium’s premier jazz group, the Con Artists Jazz Orchestra. Joel continues to be a busy freelance performer on the Brisbane music scene as well as being part of various session projects. He is currently a core member of Brisbane’s premier roots band Fat Picnic, having played at venues and festivals across Australia, including Splendour in the Grass, Dragon Dreaming, Caloundra Music Festival, Island Vibe and the Great Australian Beer Festival.
